The Gourd Festival at the Pinal County Fairgrounds is in February. Gourds are related to melons and squash, but you don’t eat them; they come in all sizes and shapes, and that’s what makes them useful to artists. Gourds can be carved or woodburned, painted on or made into trinket boxes or musical instruments. We were there during our stay in Casa Grande, Arizona.
